Metaflex hosts ASSA ABLOY Portugal for hands-on training

The ASSA ABLOY Portugal technical and sales teams recently visited Metaflex in Aalten, the Netherlands, for a two-day technical and commercial training. The goal was to prepare for future growth in the Business Segment Pedestrian healthcare sector by learning more about the Metaflex hermetic doors.

“Our goal was to achieve maximum installation knowledge,” said Rui Gonçalves, Project Manager. “We’ll be installing the first units in Portugal soon, and we find it very important to provide our customers with a perfect first-time installation.”

From the field to the factory

The visit combined real-life installation site visits with extensive factory-based training. From programming control boards to identifying key components and accessories, the hands-on sessions helped the team become fully familiar with Metaflex’s systems.

“It was super important to have on-site experience and then go deep in the factory,” Rui said. “The way the agenda was structured allowed us to focus on small details that save valuable time during installation.”

The team also had the opportunity to explore the showroom and complete a full factory tour. “You can only get a true sense of the quality and product range by being there in person,” Rui noted. “We had no idea there were so many variations. Seeing it all in detail really makes a difference when preparing for future orders.”

Commercial insights and confidence

From a sales perspective, the experience proved just as valuable. Flávio Lopes Pereira, Sales Representative, shared: “We’re now in a strong position to highlight the many advantages of Metaflex doors, both technical and functional, especially when compared to other manufacturers. The hospitality and openness of the team also made a big impression. We didn’t feel like visitors, we felt part of the company.”

Collaboration across teams

Both Flávio and Rui emphasized the importance of collaboration between sales and technical roles throughout the visit. “That kind of knowledge exchange is key,” Flávio said. “We now know exactly who does what and how. That connection builds confidence on both sides.”

The conclusion? Confidence, clarity and commitment. “We definitely accomplished our goals and even exceeded some expectations,” Rui said. “We’re going back with the right experience, the right contacts and a lot more confidence for what lies ahead.”
