The Radboudumc has an in-house particle accelerator. In order to house this cyclotron, a new basement bunker was built, supplemented with various laboratories. Additionally, a number of floors of the Radboudumc have been reconstructed into res earch and office spaces belonging to the cyclotron.

The complexity of this project lay in the inclusion of specialist medical equipment in the building (such as amongst others the cyclotron and the hotcell), the safeguarding of nuclear safety (by means of amongst others thick concrete walls with lead) and limiting disruption for the rest of the building that was still operational.
